In reality it's just like a candy bar because it's packed full of sugar. Whether it's in its truest form or it's man-made like corn syrup no matter how you look at it the stuff is just plain bad. The stuff is needed because without it that bar won't taste very good.And yes it may be high in protein but it doesn't provide nearly enough nutrients that our bodies crave and need. Plus they're generally high in saturated fat and in calories neither of which our bodies need a lot of.
And more recently there's an even bigger problem which concerns the labeling of a bar. Over half of those tested didn't live up to the claims of their labels. So for example if a bar's label claimed it had only 1 gram of carbohydrates it was often found that it had 6 grams or more of carbs.And even more interesting is the fact that many of the products contained a considerable amount more of carbohydrates verses proteins. Kind of defeats the purpose of the product if you ask me. Not to mention they're not cheap.
